Never thought about cleaning your mattress? It’s the perfect opportunity to start now while doing your spring cleaning. As spring breathes new life into our surroundings, refreshing your mattress is essential for ensuring a better night’s sleep.

A well-maintained mattress supports spinal alignment and provides the comfort necessary for deep, restorative sleep. Without proper care, your mattress can accumulate numerous allergens that may negatively impact your sleep. By investing a little time in your mattress care, you are investing in better quality sleep.

1. Use a mattress protector

Using a mattress protector is an excellent way to shield your mattress from any spills, stains and dust that may accumulate. This additional layer of protection will help extend the life of your mattress, keeping it fresh and clean. Remember to keep your mattress protector clean along with the rest of your bedding.

2. Use appropriate bedding

Spring is the perfect time to refresh your betting. Using the right bedding can also contribute to the longevity and comfort of your mattress. Opt for breathable sheets and pillowcases that are made from natural fibres, such as cotton or linen. This will help regulate your body temperature and reduce sweat build-up. This is why it is vital to use 100% sustainable bedding on your mattress.

3. Allow for proper ventilation

Make sure your bedroom is well ventilated and periodically air out your mattress by removing the covers and allowing it to breathe. Proper ventilation prevents moisture build-up, which can lead to mould and mildew. These are enemies of healthy sleep.

4. Follow the manufacturer’s guidelines on your mattress

You need to always adhere to the care instructions provided to maintain your mattress properly. This ensures that you don’t cause any damage and helps you make the most of your mattress’s long-term warranty.
