Reasons you shouldn’t skip breakfast

Breakfast is said to be the most important meal of the day but not everyone has enough time to indulge in it. While trying to balance work and home, it can get hectic, leading to us not having enough time to line our stomachs with a good breakfast full of goodies good for our bodies.

We sometimes grab a cup of coffee thinking it will make up for hunger, but research studies tell a different story. While we may point out the need for eating breakfast, it is important to stress the significance of a nutritional breakfast.

As an important meal of the day, these are the reasons we are advised to eat our breakfast every day.

More energy for your day – one of the possibly known benefits of eating breakfast is that it gives us energy. This might not be the same for everyone, but many studies share that it gives fuel to the body. “Having adequate nutrition in the morning can help decrease brain fog, leading to better concentration during morning meetings or classes,” shares CNET an American media hub for TV and radio. In another study shared by the hub, it is said that breakfast does assist kids with concentration leading to better academic performance.

Lower risk of type 2 diabetes – a study conducted in 2020 found that those who ate no breakfast were at the highest risk of type 2 diabetes, while those who ate breakfast a couple of times a week were at a high risk, with those who had breakfast everyday or at least five times a week were at a lower risk. The above-mentioned hub adds that, “Physical activity, body mass index and general health also contribute to higher risks of diabetes.”

It could take a toll on athletic performance – some people feel that cardio or general  exercising is better on an empty stomach, that may not be the case for all types of exercise. For example, “Though breakfast may not impact short, aerobic activities, eating before exercise has been shown to improve performance during prolonged workouts,” shares MindBodyGreen an information hub with health-related advice.
