Reasons to consider tea tree oil

Tea tree oil, with its refreshing scent and potent properties, has long been hailed as a natural solution to a myriad of everyday problems. From its origins in Australia, where indigenous communities first discovered its benefits, tea tree oil has made its way into homes and health routines around the world.

Whether you’re looking for a natural alternative to hand sanitisers, seeking relief from pesky insects, or aiming to enhance your skincare regime, tea tree oil might just be the versatile powerhouse you’ve been searching for. Let’s delve into some of the remarkable benefits this essential oil has to offer.

Natural hand sanitiser

Tea tree oil is known to kill bacteria and viruses that cause illness like E. coli, S. pneumoniae, and H. influenzae. Tea tree oil can be used as a hand wash to prevent getting sick.

Insect repellent

Tea tree oil can be used to ward off common insects such as pesky mosquitoes and house flies. Many natural farmers that steer away from pesticides use tea tree oil to repel ants in agriculture.

Natural deodorant

Sweat itself doesn’t smell… shocker! What gives sweat a smell is when it’s mixed with bacteria on the skin. As tea tree oil is anti-bacterial, it can help beat the smelly odour caused by bacteria.

Antiseptic

Tea tree oil can be antiseptic and can be used for minor injuries like small cuts and scrapes. Simply add a drop of tea tree oil with a teaspoon of coconut oil, apply it to an open wound, and cover the injured section.

Healthy skin

Many serums contain tea tree oil for a good reason. It’s known to help with acne, especially those related to bacteria on the skin. To make your own DIY serum, simply mix one part tea tree oil with nine parts water, dip a cotton pad into the mixture and dab the affected areas with it, twice a day.

Dandruff management

Due to tea tree oil’s anti-bacterial properties, it is a great way to manage dandruff. Simply add a few drops of tea tree oil to a pea-sized amount of shampoo and wash your hair as usual.
