It is Janu – worry! This is often identified as the first month of the year, but to many it is also perceived as a “mini-year” within the new year.

This is because many people believe the month of January to be one of the longest months of the year because of how long it tends to drag, resulting in people having to dig deep into their pockets to survive until the following salary date, as all of their monies have been spent on having a wonderful festive season.

It is often during this month that people find themselves having to comprise on certain foods by substituting their meals with something less expensive, or experience running out of stock when it comes to essential items.

One of these items is toothpaste. It is common knowledge that running out of toothpaste is one of the worst experiences that anyone can go through. Having a nice smile and fresh breath is essential when engaging in daily conversations with friends, colleagues and clients.

Here are two hacks to help those finding themselves in a similar situation.

Chew sesame seeds

Gold Coast Holistic Dental Care – an Australian expert dental company – highly recommends this as an alternative to toothpaste. It is said that sesame seeds possess certain properties that makes it the perfect natural scrub to get rid of plague.

The main objective is to take a hand full of seeds and chew until refined. Thereafter you may make use of your toothbrush and brush over your teeth as per normal.

Sea salt

Similar to sesame seeds, sea salt is another alternative that can be used as a scrub for removing plague. According to Try Auto Brush – a toothbrush manufacturing expert – using sea salt has anti-inflammatory properties which provides an added benefit for those with sore gums or toothaches.

“When diluted in water, sea salt can also reduce the acidic content in your mouth, balance your mouth’s natural pH level, and disinfect your mouth, tongue, and cheeks,” adds the source mentioned above.
