New Checkers advertising campaign mimics Nara Smith

The internet battle between content creators, Nara Smith and Onezwa Mbola seems to have made it in the retail world.

This is after Checkers allegedly released a new advert campaign that is inspired by TikTok content creator’s videos, Nara recently. Nara is known for making food from scratch while speaking in a soft tone. The content creator made bubblegum, cornflakes and Snickers chocolate bar for her husband.

Recently, a TikTok user with username @rumaana_ took to their page to share the Checkers advert; with a caption that read, “The person who runs Checkers marketing needs multiple raises.”

Another user with the username @vamp_ell also shared the same video on the popular app, where TikTok users weighed in on the advert.

One user said, “I just checked and they have ‘Looking for a man in finance’,”

Another user commented: “Checkers marketing always on point,”

“You don’t have to be Nara and make things from scratch kesana.. they’ve got you.” said one user.

Onezwa, a Masterchef SA contestant, cooks food that she has raised, grown, or foraged herself, according to The Citizen.

The chef takes her followers on a journey when she prepares her dishes. Truly made from scratch, Onezwa, talks you through her dishes step by step, in a calm soft voice. With over 100k followers on Instagram.

On the other hand, influencer Nara has had TikTok in a chokehold with her version of “made from scratch”. She has a distinctive style and has everyone on alert when she starts with: “This morning my children wanted, or my husband has been craving…”

Nara has recently been accused of copying Onezwa’s dishes, style, and even her voice-over sound.
