Local destinations to explore this Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is around the corner, and one of the many great ways to spoil your mother is by taking her on a memorable trip.

South Africa is home to plenty of beautiful destinations and tourist attractions that have interesting activities to offer.

Here are a few destinations and attractions to consider for a short getaway this Mother’s Day:

Cape Town

Cape Town is one of the country’s best travel destinations and the reasons for that are clear to see. Fondly known as ‘The Mother City’, it offers a number of lovely experiences. You can explore an array of interesting restaurants, or spoil your mother to some pampering and relaxation at any of the world-class spas. There are also beautiful beaches to enjoy, as well as various tourist attractions to explore including Table Mountain, the V&A Waterfront and the Two Oceans Aquarium.

Dullstroom

Nestled in the Mpumalanga Highlands, the charming town of Dullstroom offers the perfect escape from city life. As such, it is a great destination if you would like to spoil your mother to some peace of mind and tranquility.

Dullstroom also has a number of activities on offer, including fishing, golf and horse riding. A visit to the small town’s coffee shops and restaurants is also a worthwhile experience.

Rosendal

Known as the Free State’s best-kept secret, the quaint farming town of Rosendal offers the chance to embrace slow living. It boasts beautiful landscapes and picture-perfect sandstone buildings.

The destination is ideal for a holiday where peace, quiet and relaxation are on the itinerary. There are also a number of things to do, including exploring one of the town’s tiny art galleries, hiking and picnics. Moreover, the small town has a couple of awesome restaurants worth trying out.

Sun City

Located in the North West province, Sun City offers an unforgettable holiday which your mother is likely to appreciate. The luxury resort is a world class tourist attraction worth visiting.

There is plenty of water fun to be enjoyed at Valley of the Waves, and you can also experience a hot air balloon ride over the breathtaking Pilanesberg National Park. If your mother desires some pampering and spa spoils, Sun City also has that on offer.

Kruger National Park

If your mother is a lover of nature, a bush getaway at the Kruger National Park is worth considering. The Park is rich in flora and fauna, and you can spot the iconic Big Five. There is plenty to be enjoyed including game drives, guided tours and the perfect refreshing experience in nature.
