A KwaZulu-Natal family can have a sigh of relief after their kidnapped son finally returns home on his birthday.
According to a tweet shared by Dasen Thathiah, a journalist at the reputable news broadcaster eNCA, the police were able to rescue the 8-year-old from a shack near Sydenham.
This comes after the boy was kidnapped after school on Wednesday, 3rd April. The kidnappers later contacted the family requesting a ransom of R9000.
However, the journalist mentioned above revealed that the crime intelligence team worked vigorously to ensure that the boy would be returned safely.
“Working through the night, SAPS hostage negotiators, Inanda FCS crime intelligence, provincial organised crime unit and STF located the child and arrested two suspects,” he confirmed.
He later added: “The boy has been checked and in good health. It is also his birthday today.”
Meanwhile, the kidnappers, a man and woman, will soon make their court appearance.
The news was later also confirmed by the road safety campaign Arrive Alive.
The well-known reporter later revealed that the boy would be celebrating his birthday soon, after resting following the traumatic ordeal.
Meanwhile, the search for Saldhana’s Joslin Smith is currently still underway. The publication The Citizen reported that police are currently examining pieces of clothing believed to belong to the missing toddler.
The grade 1 pupil went missing on the 19th of February this year while in the care of her mother’s boyfriend.
