Is there such a thing as “age appropriate”?

That voice! The one that tells you NO you’re too old to do something or the voice that tells you to act age appropriate.

It continues saying, you can’t wear that, you can’t say that, don’t act like that and don’t do that it’s not age appropriate, you’re too old for a career change or too old for this job. What happened to “age is nothing but a number”?

If we remember correctly, Mark Twain once said “age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.”

While we can’t run away from the fact that in some cultures “age appropriate” is determined by cultural values and beliefs, however, is it fair to judge those that don’t practice such cultures?

According to HE founder, Bruno (HE) Mirchevski in many instances it is instilled in people while they are children that there are things that are age appropriate, for example, you can’t play with XYZ because they’re older than you, your clothes are childish or inappropriate.

Mirchevski continues saying “Society defines the guidelines on who is considered young when you become “old” when you should start a career, start a family, buy your first house.”

Honestly, your age doesn’t have to define you or who you are, oftentimes people live their lives to please others or always wanting to do what the society deems to be appropriate.

“It’s silly to let your age define you. After all, there is no age that defines when you stop caring about others, when you stop helping others, or when you stop feeling love and appreciation for the people in your life.” – says Mirchevski.

According to Eskaton Blog, there is no such thing as “too old” to learn. In fact, the minute you stop learning is the minute you stop living. A life-enriching lifestyle is one that includes a lot of variety and a constant infusion of new knowledge.

You can be whatever you want to be!
