The cost of living might be too high for most consumers but for some people who know how to buy their monthly groceries, it’s a different story.

TikTok creator @bulelani.eats posted a grocery haul of what R350 got him at local supermarket shop Shoprite, leaving many internet users stunned by the price, given amount food costs these days. In the video, the creator who showcases his cooking recipes on the app showed users what he got. His grocery haul consisted of meat, 18 eggs, bacon, spices and a cucumber.

Although not everything was included in this shopping haul, many internet users believed that the costs was low due to the supermarket’s discount product special, which some users questioned.

Taking to the creator’s comment section users had a lot to say:

One user commented: “The problem with Shoprite is that all these groceries might be spoiled the very next day, causing another user to respond, “Maybe the Shoprite in your area.”

Another user said: “Shoprite doesn’t love me cause, How do I end up paying R1850 to R2000 for my monthly groceries.”

Another user stated that the current economy requires someone to constantly do maths because Shoprite stores usually have chicken packs at lower prices than other stores, adding that they prefer to buy spices from spice stores rather than supermarkets and that they always look for specials at any local supermarket to save money.
