Internet users shocked as mother details her R7400 monthly expenditure on her baby

TikTok users reacted to a young mother as she shared how much her monthly expenditure is for her son.

A TikToker who goes by the username @dawnnomusa – who shares her journey of balancing motherhood and being a medical student on her platform – posted a video detailing that her 14-month-old’s monthly expenses cost her R7400,00.

The video went viral and gained over 797,000 views.

The creator’s budget goes as follows:

  • Medical aid – R1800,00.
  • Daycare – R3000,00.
  • Milk – R1300,00.
  • Nappies- R750,00.
  • 16 Jars of purées  -R240,00.
  • 2 Boxes of cereal -R100,00.
  • 2 Wet wipes- R60,00.
  • Toiletries – R150,00.00

Internet users reacted to the video, adding that raising children was expensive.

One TikTok user commented: “R3000,00 for daycare? Those are my college fees.”

Another TikTok user detailed how she wrote down all her children’s expenses for her husband because he did not believe the figures added up to R21,000.00 per month.

One user advised the young mother on the food the toddler eats, saying: “14 months lol [laugh out loud] cut out the purees, make it yourself and he must eat pap and gravy, mashed potatoes, carrot and pumpkin, etc.”

One mother joked that she was a cheapskate because she spent R1500.00 on her baby.
