Internet users react to a young man asking BI Phakathi for a PlayStation5

by Bongiwe Mati

Philanthropist BI Phakathi is a man loved by many for his humility and kind heart as he often aims to help those is utter poverty by giving them cash or donating towards their needs.

The faceless man whose social media bio states that he is a filmmaker, life coach, in digital media and believes in living life in the now as there are no repeats recently donated towards a grade 10 learner’s funeral as her family had no means to bury her.

BI Phakathi’s social media platforms are often flooded with messages from people who praise him for his kind acts, with some who want to donate for him to reach more people, and some who often ask for help.

In a recent post, the humanitarian shared his stance on poverty.

I hate poverty ?

Internet users flooded his timeline commenting on hi post with one user asking for a rather odd thing.

User @Wesley Nkohla asked BI for a PlayStation5, which priced over R10k.

Sir, can you please buy me a PlayStation 5?

— Wesley Nkohla (@WarlockWesley) May 7, 2024

The philanthropist responded telling Wesley that he was attending more serious matter and that he usually give gifts around Christmas time.

Hi Wes, Someone needs a wheelchair, someone needs food, someone needs a shelter, I do PS5 gifts on Christmas, much love brother https://t.co/w4lfCQGr1V

— BI Phakathi (@biphakathi) May 7, 2024

Wesley was adamant to let BI understand the importance of his request, commenting:

I understand. A wheelchair, food & shelter is more important than a PlayStation 5. The reason why I’m asking for a PS5 is because I can’t afford it & owning a PS5 is also important, it prevents the youth from drugs & alcohol because they are indoors playing Grand Theft Auto.

Wesley’s request shocked many internet users who commented:

I don’t usually reply to tweets but damn??.

My guy what is wrong with you?

— Given Mtsweni (@MtsweniBoy) May 7, 2024

One user understood Wesley commenting:

Wesley there is nothing wrong with you asking for a PS5 just because people are starving out there. I’m unemployed and behind on all my debts but my son asks me for a PS5 every week and the day that things start going right in my life I will buy him that PS5 .
