With the South African spring season nearly upon us, this means that it’s time to pack away those fleece blankets, and thick rain jackets and enjoy some well-deserved family time in the great outdoors.

What better time to do this than during the spring season when you are greeted by the beautiful sounds of birds chirping and the bright smiles of the sunflowers out in the fields. This atmosphere is particularly pleasant for those who reside closer to the lush views of botanical gardens, nature reserves or nature parks filled with greenery and if you find yourself residing in the Mother City, Cape Town, you may be in for a treat.

The city has several outdoor spots where you and your family can spend time having a nice picnic while you take in the breathtaking views of your surroundings.

Here are a few that you can visit this spring:

Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens

Known as the home to some of the most unique species of plants and flowers, the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens is a must-see destination for any nature enthusiast and their family.

The venue is home to some of the best views ensuring that you get the reactions you want from a good Instagram picture.
