How to start a blog and keep it maintained

Blogging is a popular thing to do amongst all age groups, each person or group chooses their own content or interest to put out.

According to Productive Blogging, the platform is a creative outlet to share your thoughts, ideas and passions. In previous years, blogging was known as an online diary but these days it opens up doors for many people, gives you incredible opportunities, self development and personal growth.

However, as much as it sounds exciting and perhaps you might think it will bring you instant fame, BlogStarter advises that the beginning of starting a blog might be intimidating and many mistakes might occur but in the end you might benefit from the mistakes.

Here is a step by step guide on how to start a blog and maintaining it: 

What will your blog be about?

Choose a name that reflects the content of which you’ll talk about in your blog, and give a description of it in a way people would understand.

You can choose from various topics, for example, life stories, health, hobbies, activities, or entertainment.

Share your blog with the public online

First you need blog hosting and blog software, blog host will offer the following:

  • They will register your custom domain name, making sure no one else can take it.
  • Keep and store your files

Creating a storyline

There are tab bars that will guide you to an option where it says “about us”. This usually means narrating the storyline about what your blog is about.

Write something brief that consists of why people should read your blog, who is behind the blog, if it’s a personal blog and what is so special about your blog.

Now that you have the blog software, it’s time to create content and here are some ways you can make it easy for you to run your blog.

  1. Develop your technological skills.
  2. Build your blog community by advertising it on your social media platforms.
  3. Put a fun aspect to it.
  4. Work on your writing skills.
