How to make peppermint tart

The famous peppermint tart, which has its roots in mzansi, is a delectable dessert crafted from locally sourced ingredients. It is unquestionably a must-try treat for this summer.

TikTok food blogger known as @eatmee shares a delightful dessert tutorial with her followers.

She says, “If these brands aren’t available, use coconut biscuits as a replacement for tennis biscuits and a tin of condensed milk it may be boiled for around six hours which will result in caramel. Any other chocolate that contains peppermint and mint in them can be used as well.”

Ingredients: (makes 1 casserole)

  • 2 x 200 grams of Original Bakers Tennis biscuits.
  • 360 grams (1 tin) Nestle Caramel Treat.
  • 147 grams Nestle Peppermint Crisp chocolate.
  • 500 ml fresh cream.

How to make the peppermint tart dessert method:

  1. To a bowl, add in the Nestle caramel treat and whisk it until it’s smooth.
  2. To another bowl, add in the fresh cream and whisk it until it forms soft peaks.
  3. Chop 98 grams of Nestle peppermint crisp chocolate ( or any other mint chocolate)
  4. Add the whisked Nestle caramel treat and the chopped chocolate to the whipped cream. Mix until combined.
  5. To a square casserole, add the Original Tennis Biscuits in a layer.
  6. Top with half of the cream mixture and smoothen with the back of the spoon.
  7. Add another layer of the Tennis Biscuits and cover with the remaining cream mixture.
  8. Smoother out again and chop 49 grams of the Nestle peppermint crisp chocolate.
  9. Sprinkle the chopped chocolate over the top and refrigerate overnight for the best results.
  10. If you are in a hurry, refrigerate for a minimum of four to six hours.
