How to improve air quality at home

Our homes always need to be welcoming not only for our guests but for the people living in them, from fresh scents to how neat and tidy they look.

Imagine coming home and the air in the house is just not what it’s supposed to be. This would immediately make one turn around at the door.

Here is a list of ways to improve your air quality at home:

Petro, a home services website advises you to clean your airconditioners because, all year long,  your home’s air conditioning system works nonstop to maintain the ideal temperature. However, they are filtering out some of those typical air pollutants as they cycle through all that air.

The website suggests controlling the humidity and moisture in your home as it encourages the growth of mold which can worsen respiratory illnesses such as asthma and allergies.

According to the source mentioned above, buying a few houseplants can greatly improve indoor air quality while enhancing your home decor.

Dr Nicholas BuSaba, an associate professor of Otolaryngology at Harvard Medical School states that having a clean home may lead to better health as dust and pet dander can be significantly reduced with proper indoor hygiene.

The above associate professor also claims that investing in an air purifier could be beneficial if you have an allergy to indoor allergens and you are unable to control the cause of the issue such as not being able to part with your family pet.

Letting fresh air into the house by opening windows sometimes is crucial even during the colder months, suggests the doctor.
