How to ensure physical fitness on your kids

Physical fitness is important for the body to develop and grow healthily. Normally, as a parent, you would think that because children are often always on the run and never seem to settle down, that’s exercise enough for them. However, you must be intentional about them working out to keep their bodies well-preserved, and by working out I mean child-appropriate workouts of course.

The Kids Health publication states that parents and kids often associate sports with fitness, but regular practice and games alone are not enough to achieve activity goals. It is mentioned that -parents can’t rely solely on physical education in schools.

“Make physical activity part of the daily routine. From household chores to an after-dinner walk, keep your family active every day. Allow enough time for free play. Kids can burn more calories and have more fun when left to their own devices.”

According to Healthy Children, to encourage physical activity in children, consult their doctor, emphasise fun, choose developmentally appropriate activities, provide a safe environment, and provide active toys. The publication further suggests that you be a role model and play with your child to learn new sports or activities.

“Limit screen time, including time spent on TV, videos, computers, and video games, each day. Use the free time for more physical activities. Make time for exercise. Some children are so overscheduled with homework, music lessons, and other planned activities that they do not have time for exercise.”

The Hot Ground Gym encourages physical fitness in children as it promotes healthy growth, mental health, weight management, social skills, discipline, and academic performance. It is said to reduce stress, boost mood, and encourage teamwork, communication, and discipline. “In school sports, students need to keep up a certain grade average to play. This rule can encourage them to do well in their studies.”
