How to accomodate a large family around the Christmas table

There’s nothing that’s says Christmas like spending time with the family. Yet, ironically enough there’s also nothing that says family like spending time around the Christmas table. The two are inseparable.

While the day is often a Christian celebration in memory of the birth of Jesus, the sacred day is known to bring families together.

In South Africa, food plays an important part in bringing unity. However, with kids all growing up and having kids of their own, parents and grandparents often face the reality of having to cater for larger families with each year that passes.

This can create a huge headache!

Questions that often rise are things like where will everyone be seated? Will there be enough food? What food should I make?

If you find yourself in this position here are a few things that will help you accommodate your large family:

First, why not try using a bench instead of chairs? This is believed to be a fun way to create more space around the table and you could even put all the kids on one side to give them their own little corner.

If one table isn’t enough, you could try slotting two tables together or use more than one table and create a special children’s table in a different room. It’ll be just like at a wedding!

And if you’re still struggling to fit everyone in, it might be time to invest in a new table that can accommodate your guests.

For those living in a cramped space, less is ideally better. Try not to over do the decorations as this with defeat the objective by taking up more space, leaving less space to move.

With these quick solutions, you’ll be able to relax and enjoy your Christmas without any seating worries. So go ahead and have fun with your loved ones!
