Congratulations! You’ve said “I do,” thrown the bouquet, and danced the night away.

You two are now the focus of your honeymoon. After the chaos of the wedding, it’s your time to celebrate love and create beautiful memories together.

It is the final piece of magic to do before you put away your wedding gown and start writing thank-you messages. Consider it an opportunity to relax after all the stress of preparation and begin married life with a memorable journey.

Even though anything that involves planning can be daunting, especially when all you want to do is spend time with your significant other. Well, planning your honeymoon should be as simple as possible provided that you have the below highlighted items checked.

Here’s everything you need to know to plan the ideal post-wedding vacation, from picking the ideal location to striking a balance between enjoyable activities and lots of downtime.

You should have a break as wonderful as the day you said “I do” after all the vows, toasts, and wedding snaps.

The budget

A spending plan allows you to determine what you can and cannot do with the money you have saved up because nobody likes to return home empty handed, so don’t torture your wallet.

Your dream destination

Some couples love to keep it at home and our country has some of the best underrated honeymoon spots such as the Bushmanskloof Wilderness Reserve and Wellness Retreat in the Western Cape, the stunning 4-star family-owned Cathedral Peak Hotel in KZN or even the Elephant Hide of Knysna surrounded by beaches, lakes, and mountains.

However, if you would like to go beyond our borders to experience a beachy paradise, such as the Maldives or Bali? Or a quiet, romantic location in Italy? Absolutely go for it.

Activities

You can decide what activities you would like to take part in, which can either be couple massages, sunset meals, or as simple as taking a walk and discovering the city’s hidden treasures. However, don’t overplan, instead, allow for a few spontaneous moments because that’s when the magic happens.
