From R700 to R10: Internet reacts to the new price of PRIME

The energy and hydration drink PRIME caused quite a stir last year when it landed in South Africa with a huge price tag of up to R700 attached to it. Now, the once sought-after product’s price has significantly dropped to an affordable R10.

PRIME, created by international YouTubers Logan Paul and KSI, had many tweens rush to giant retailers to get their hands on the array of flavoured beverages. The drink became so popular that even some stores charged hopeful customers between R40 and R700.

With the hype having died down and retailers’ fridges filled with the product, it seems the only sensible thing to do was to decrease the price… drastically.

PRIME once again had the streets of social media talking after someone had shared that one of the local retail giants ran a special on the drink now costing R10 per bottle.

Here is what some social media users had to say:

Prime is R10 now. pic.twitter.com/BJsWDopiaZ

If you have teenage kids. Please show them how Prime went from R40 to R10 in less than a year. This is a good example of how popularity fades. https://t.co/pyNXpu24aT
