Five ways to exfoliate your skin

by Ncumisa Lerato Kunana

Exfoliating removes dead skin cells that can dull your complexion, make your skin look splotchy, and clog your pores. “The change of seasons is a great time to refresh your skin, especially after a long winter or a hot season when you’re sweating a lot,” aesthetician Christina Smith says.

In fact, she claims that regular exfoliation gives you a beautiful glow all year, especially when the environment and stress can affect the health and appearance of your skin.

Here are five ways to exfoliate according to Beauty on TApp:

Overnight masks

Overnight masks are gentle exfoliators that work overnight to smooth your skin. This treatment you can do 1- 2 times a week.

Cleansers

Exfoliating cleansers contain low percentages of exfoliating ingredients and can be used daily. These are great for oily and acne prone skin.

Dermaplaning

This is a physical exfoliation method that literally shaves the top layer of your skin. This can be done once a month.

Scrubs

Physical scrubs help remove dead skin cells from the top layer of skin. This method can be harsh and should be done once a week.

Chemical peels

Some chemical peels can be done at home however peels with higher active percentages should be done by professional.

Taking care of your skin, your body’s largest organ, is an important part of staying healthy. See your dermatologist or aesthetician regularly to stay updated on the latest products and techniques that can help you enjoy fresh, healthy skin for years to come.
