In a dramatic twist of roles meant to offer care and support, a caregiver in Daveyton, Ekurhuleni, finds herself on the wrong side of the law, accused of assaulting her employer.

A 45-year-old caregiver has been arrested in Daveyton, Ekurhuleni, following allegations of assault against her employer. According to Daily Sun, Police spokeswoman Lieutenant-Colonel Kelebogile Thepa, the incident took place on 29 June.

The publication states that the complainant reported that her helper forcefully entered her home and initiated the attack by strangling her. Due to the victim’s paralysed condition, defending herself was challenging.

The assault stopped suddenly, and the suspect later walked away when questioned about her actions. The victim received medical treatment following the incident. The helper has been charged with assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH).

In addition, there is another disturbing case involving a nurse who allegedly killed her helper.

A 48-year-old nurse who stands accused of murdering her 21-year-old domestic worker, Busiswa Nxumalo, allegedly claimed R6 million in life insurance. The nurse, whose identity is protected until her court appearance, purportedly took out multiple life insurance policies for her helper with three different companies Stangen Life, Outsurance, and King Price.

The alleged murder of Nxumalo occurred at the nurse’s former residence in Lenasia South, in January 2022. Nxumalo’s body was discovered with her throat slit at a dump site near the nurse’s previous home.

The nurse is now facing serious charges related to the murder and the insurance policies, with investigations ongoing to uncover further details surrounding this tragic case as reported by News24.
