Dating apps have made meeting new people easier than ever, but they’ve also introduced a whole new set of behaviours that can make modern romance feel like a tricky game. Some red flags are easy to spot, while others sneak up when you least expect them.

Whether you’re searching for love or just testing the waters, knowing what to watch out for can save you time, energy, and maybe even a little heartbreak.

According to One Love, if a person doesn’t ask you out within 72 hours of connecting, then they’re wasting your time. It is also stated that if they avoid or deflect when you are asking them out, they’re not interested.

During online interactions, the Very Awell Mind publication cautions that you be aware of behaviours such as ghosting, breadcrumbing, and love bombing. The publication explains that ghosting occurs when someone abruptly cuts off communication without explanation, leaving you feeling rejected and confused.

Breadcrumbing is said to involve giving attention but never committing to anything, leading to frustration and wasted emotional energy, whereas love bombing involves overwhelming you with excessive affection, compliments, and promises to gain trust quickly. While it may seem flattering at first, love bombing is believed to be a manipulative tactic used to gain control and can lead to emotional manipulation or disappointment when the person withdraws suddenly.

Other uncomfortable behaviours that you would get from these online dating apps which you should run away from, according to BuzzFeed include someone asking you for nudes, it does not matter how long you have been talking, asking for that kind of private content from you raises eyebrows.

The above source also states that you avoid someone who only has group photos and no single picture of themselves.
