A video of an elderly couple married for over five decades touched the hearts of many when the woman was seen grooming her husband’s beard.

With every stroke of the brush against the grey facial hairs, the woman is shown to be very gentle, even holding the top of her husband’s head to best get the job done.

The video was captured by TikTok user Bongiwe Shabangu, who shared that the couple have been together in matrimony for 56 years. Bongiwe also noted that the actions were a “true definition of love.”

The video garnered close to 900,000 views and flooded with over 4000 comments. Some comments were people expressing their own experiences of love while others shared the love stories of others:

“I see my husband and I in them.”

“My parents were married for over 60 years, both passed away two years apart. God bless this couple.”

“There is nothing more beautiful than the love that the Lord put in our hearts to love each other.”

“This is what we call true love, not what is happening now.”

One could state that being in a relationship for as long as the couple shown above could equate to a healthy relationship. According to the relationship publication Marriage, there are ways to keep your relationship thriving. This can be done by setting goals as a couple, prioritising your partner, separating your identities as a couple, avoiding arguments over money and resolving arguments together.

As one TikToker said in the comment section, “This is a couple I can ask for relationship advice. They made it.”
