The publication suggests removing the seat and cleaning the surrounding area with a bathroom cleaner. It is further stated that the floor and walls around the toilet are also often overlooked, as they are a splash and odour zone.
The above source recommends using a cleaning recipe of hot water, bleach, and powdered detergent to de-grime these areas. Vacuuming the area first is recommended, then wiping down the walls and scrubbing the floor around, and on the skirting of the toilet.
