The well-known retailer, Woolworths, affectionately known as ‘Woolies’, has officially announced that they are now offering their beloved cakes by the slice, responding to the requests of South Africans.

Dear @WOOLWORTHS_SA

May you please look into selling cake slices or even half cakes for us who stay alone ??????

Thank you
Management ?

Finally, singletons and those who just want cake (but not the whole thing) can also enjoy a slice of Woolies cake without the big investment.

And WOOLWORTHS_SA responded: ‘Hi Bestie. Can you please slide in our DMs with your contact information and closest store? We’d love to get in touch with you!’

At just R39.99 you can now indulge in your favourite ‘Slice of happy’ without committing to an entire cake.

Choose from a variety of best-loved flavours, including rainbow, chocolate caramel and carrot cake.

South Africans have taken to social media in praise of Woolworths consistently delivering on its promises, referring to the retailer as a brand that truly values customers’ input.

@SuvaniaS shared a post to X (formerly known as Twitter) that quickly went viral, amassing 939K views in under 48 hours.

She shared an image of the Woolworths cake slice that she stumbled upon while shopping for chicken in the store with the caption:

‘Besties, no one works harder than Woolies. Look what I saw today at the shops: individual cake slices’.

The attention to customer satisfaction is why South Africans love Woolworths. The comments are why we love South Africans:

“The devil might work hard, but @WOOLWORTHS_SA works harder.”

“I love a brand that listens to their customers. @WOOLWORTHS_SA y’all are amazing.”

“Wow wonderful. Sometimes you just want a little slice of cake. Also cake for people who stay alone and stuff. I like it.”

“Wait which Woolies is this one? I want to go there tomorrow!”

“Hallelujah praise gaaaaard! At long last!”

“They did well here, because I can’t buy a whole cake it’s just gonna spoil.”
