Challenging ” Body goals”

by Ashia Nkontsa

To feel confident, you must be in touch with your true self.

Summer holidays bring pressure of always looking good and busking in the sun, but what they don’t tell you is how many times you have to change outfits just to look good. With the constant question in your mind of whether something suits you or if you have the right body for a certain outfit which is something that can definitely add to your stress.

The Author of the award winning “A Meaningful life”, Simon Jacobson states in his book, “True confidence must be connected with permanence. The only permanent thing in your life is your soul. Everything else in this world – your body, your material possessions – is transitory and ever-changing. Your soul, by contrast, is Divine; permanent and indispensable”.

Although many women agree that looking good comes with being confident and accepting yourself as you are, our daily struggles of having the right body especially for summer has been a scuffle.

The constant questions in your mind will always be:

-Should I wear this revealing top if I have big boobs?

-Can a person my size wear a bathing suit in front of people at the beach?

-This dress doesn’t look as good as it is on me like her.

-Is my skin giving today?

Body Goals

People often confuse body goals to being skinny or having the right figure. According to an American Communication Journal, “the media plays a significant role in the trending self-image crisis, especially among young adults under 40. As desire for the idealized body type grows, Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), a condition in which either real or imagined physical flaws consume and take over an individual’s life, comes into increasing conflict with reasonable body goals. Social anxiety and depression, among others, often coincide with BDD.”

Maybe I should just sleep because I can’t find something to wear

Are you this person? Because in 2022 the focus is being healthy and alive to see another day, take the pressure off and find your inner confidence to wear what you want and what looks good according to you. Otherwise there are great chances that you will miss a lot of life events and new experiences.
