After spending some time at an Airbnb, a man is now suing the host after they sent images of him and another woman to his wife.
According to the publication UNILAD, the man, Shawn Mackey, shared with the host, Pamela Fohler, that he may be having guests over at the home in Tennessee in the United States of America. Although this went against some of the many rules Pamela enforced, she was reportedly fine with the arrangement.
However, things shifted when Pamela claimed that there were reports of noise and a party at the property, and asked Shawn to vacate the premises. UNILAD shares that in the lawsuit, Pamela wrote, “I am very sorry, but you have violated the no party rule, disturbed my neighbours by cursing and yelling in the parking lot, and have unauthorised guests. I am asking you to leave now. I can’t allow you to stay, I am sorry.”

Shawn not only checked out of the property but also requested a refund of over R9500 and left a negative review. However, the review was removed by Airbnb and Shawn received a bill amounting to more than R18,000. The new total reportedly included an “additional guest fine” of over R3000, two fines of over R4700 for “breaking rules against local guests” and “excessive noise,” and one fine of over R5600 for “moderation of your review.”

“Hello Shawn, hope you are well. Sorry it took so long to get the photos you requested together to show your stay at our home,” Pamela reportedly wrote to Shawn. “But I had faith, and was driven by integrity, so I committed to get these posted for you and Airbnb. The photo at 3:16 am is especially notable. Should I forward the photos and videos to Teresa, or will you?”
Pamela then shared the images with Shawn’s wife after he refused to pay the fines.
Now, Shawn is claiming that his marriage has suffered as a result of “harassment” and is seeking unspecified actual and punitive damages, as well as an injunction to “prevent similar action taken against customers of Airbnb,” reports UNILAD.
