A list of rand friendly places to visit as a South African

While South Africa currently finds itself in the heart of the winter season, having the desire to plan a great escape to a holiday resort outside of your country would be an ideal option that many might dream about having.

However, with the current value attached to the South African Rand currency, finding the most ideal location might become a headache. This is because many of us would want to have all there is to experience without having to worry about the dent it will make in our bank account.

Fortunately, there are several cost-friendly countries you can visit that will ensure that you get the most out of your rands.

Here are three:

Thailand

If you are a lover of all things tropical and adventurous, then Thailand is the best destination for you and your family. According to Sanlam Reality, the cost of flights is affordable, and the exchange rate is perfectly in our favour. This means that you have more money to spend on food, accommodation, and all fun things. The above-mentioned source also revealed that South African passport holders also get a six-week free tourist visa on arrival.

Greece

It is said that Greece is another destination ideal for the South African wallet. There is so much to explore when it comes to experiencing a Mediterranean lifestyle, from the idyllic Athens to the rest of the beautiful cities within Greece.

The travel agency Travel Start notes that while you may pay more than double the amount for beer and cappuccino than in South Africa, the cost of accommodation is much more like ours. In addition to that, there are also several cheap flights to choose from, depending on when you plan your trip.

Bali, Indonesia

Dubbed by Travel Start as being a surfer’s paradise, Bali boasts majestic scenery and tropical adventure.

The country is rich in history, and with most of the population practicing Hinduism, tourists can visit several temples. There is also an opportunity to immerse oneself in exploring ancient architecture and experience traditional festivals. In addition to this, lifestyle magazine, Getaway recommend feasting on the diverse cuisines that Bali has to offer.
