Internet users were shocked that a couple spent over R27k on their Cape Town five-day holiday.

TikTok creator @vintagefantic posted a video breaking down her costs to travel from Johannesburg to Cape Town for their five-day stay.

Baecations are vacations that people in relationships take to unwind and relax together. In this case, many internet users felt that spending R27,000 for a local destination was too much as that is a price for some international vacations, depending on the destination.

In the video, the creator broke down her travel cost saying, “I spent approximately R7,500 on our Airbnb accommodation. To save on costs, we opted for a long-distance bus, which amounted to around R1,900. However, on our return, we decided to take a flight, which cost us approximately R4,200. Our travel to various places around Cape Town added up to around R3,000. We also spent an estimated R589 on activities and an additional R7,200 on food. In total, the trip cost us R27,000 for both me and my partner.”

Many TikTok users took to the comment section to share their thoughts on this R27k Cape Town trip.

One user said: “Cape Town can be cheap when you use MyCiti or buy a City pass, try and purchase restaurant vouchers on Hyperli to avoid spending too much.”

Another user commented: “Cape Town is expensive, (adding a crying emoji) to think I spent around R27k in Thailand for 9 days.

Another user added that they spent R10k for 7 days on their Cape Town trip.
