Fluff may seem like an inevitable part of life, but there are ways to prevent it and remove it when it does appear. Fluff is a term used to describe small bits of loose fibers or fuzz that can form on fabrics, rugs, or other surfaces.  It can be caused by wear and tear, pilling, static electricity, or other factors.  While it may seem like a minor annoyance, fluff can be unsightly and can make surfaces look dirty or unkempt.

Here are 5 ways to remove fluff suggested by Good Housekeeping.

  • Use a lint roller: According to Good Housekeeping – a website that provides tips and advice on a variety of topics, including cleaning, organizing, and home improvement- a lint roller is a handy tool that uses a sticky adhesive to lift fluff from fabric. Simply roll the lint roller over the affected area, and it will lift away the fluff, leaving your fabric looking clean and smooth.
  • Vacuum the area with a brush attachment: The above-mentioned sources say that a vacuum with a brush attachment is another effective option for removing fluff. The brush attachment helps loosen the fluff, and the vacuum suction lifts it away. Make sure to use the lowest suction setting to avoid damaging the fabric.
  • Rub the area with a damp cloth: Good Housekeeping says that a damp cloth can also be used to lift away fluff from fabric as the cloth attracts and traps the fibers.
  • Use tape or a sticky roller to lift the fluff: Tape or a sticky roller can also be used to remove fluff, says Good Housekeeping. For use, simply press the tape or roller onto the fluff, and it will stick to the adhesive surface. Then, peel it away from the fabric to remove the fluff. This method can be particularly useful for small areas of fluff.
  • Use a handheld fabric shaver to remove the fluff: A handheld fabric shaver is another option for removing fluff. This tool has a spinning blade that shaves away the fluff, leaving the fabric looking clean and smooth added the source. Make sure to hold the fabric shaver at an angle to avoid damaging the fabric.
