It looks like this year we will be experiencing winter sooner, and when winter arrives, it can be difficult to keep your home warm and cosy. But, with a few simple tricks, you can create a warm and inviting environment in your home.

Here are five ways to make your home feel like a cozy haven during the winter months suggested by WikiHow, an information hub with relatable lifestyle topics:

  1. Use heavy curtains to retain heat.
  2. Add rugs and carpeting to increase insulation.
  3. Seal cracks and gaps around doors and windows.
  4. Use draft stoppers to block out cold air.
  5. Set up a hot water bottle or electric blanket to keep yourself warm.

Many people have pets at home, it would be unfair to only be prepared for you and your family without including your pets. Better Homes & Garden gives out the following ideas for keeping your pets warm during the winter:

  • Get a cosy pet bed with a heating element or heated blanket.
  • Make sure your pet has a warm place to sleep that’s not near any drafts.
  • Consider getting a sweater or coat for your pet, especially if they have short hair.
  • Give your pet more food during the winter, as they burn more energy trying to stay warm.

With these simple tips, you can make your home feel warm and cozy all winter long. So, curl up with a hot beverage, snuggle under a blanket, and enjoy the cosiness of your home this winter.
