Pitso Mosimane wants Bafana Bafana to reach the Springboks’ level, where player changes never drop the standard of the team.

Pitso Mosimane eyes Springbok success
Newly appointed Bafana Bafana head coach Pitso Mosimane is looking to take a page straight out of Rassie Erasmus’ Springbok playbook.
The Springboks have dominated world rugby by seamlessly blooding youngsters into their setup and building incredible depth across all positions.
Now, the newly appointed Bafana Bafana boss wants to replicate that exact blueprint as several key stars enter the twilight of their careers.
Pitso Mosimane is hoping to rope more new players into the Bafana Bafana setup so that he can build his reserves ahead of a busy next four-year cycle.
The former Sundowns coach openly admitted his admiration for the condition of Rugby in South Africa. “In South Africa, we need to stack it, and sometimes, we need to learn from the Bokke,” Mosimane said, as quoted by IOL.

“They can play with anybody. If the U18s of the Bokke can go to the World Cup, and play against the B-team with the U18s, that’s serious stuff. What does it say about the Bokke to the world, and the talent stacked behind it?
“It doesn’t matter who plays. We also need to have that culture in football. That’s what I believe in.”
Bafana Bafana are currently gearing up for their 2027 AFCON qualification opener against Guinea on Saturday; thereafter they’ll face Eritrea four days later before concluding with a friendly against Egypt on 04 October 2026.
It remains to be seen if Mosimane will take the risk and follow Rassie’s brave rotation system from the beginning of his tenure.
