5 Tips on how to shed festive weight gain

During the festive season we tend to overindulge in food, beverages and other guilty pleasures.

We neglect the strict diets and healthy lifestyles that we follow during the year.

Getting back to your regular routine may require detoxing and replenishment.

Here are a few tips that can assist you with your journey to recalibrating your mind, body and soul.

  • Strong commitment and setting daily goals – it is important to remain focused on your weight loss goal. It also helps you become more accountable for your health, adds KwaZulu-Natal based radio station, East Coast radio.
  • Creating meal plans and meal prepping – healthy meal preparations can be done prior to you needing to use them. This will not only help you eat healthy, but it will also help you stick to your routine. Creating meal plans also helps your budget, shares the above-mentioned radio station.
  • Drink lots of water – “water should be your desired beverage choice, eat fruits if you have a sugar craving, increase your fibre and protein, reduce carbohydrates, and exercise,” adds East Coast Radio.
  • Give Alcohol A Break – whether we like to believe it or not, alcohol contains large sums of calories. During the festive season we tend to indulge more on alcoholic beverages, this is because we are on holiday mode and relaxed. “It’s only wise to give up calorie-laden alcohol for some time before we open another bottle to bring in the new year.”, says NDTV Food, a food, recipe and restaurant network.
