5 Reasons why you should not check your partner’s phone

Having a partner that is constantly on their phone might make the other partner uneasy. The partner’s mind might also wonder into may directions, trying to make sense of what might be so interesting that the other person wants to look at, all the time.

The best thing to do when faced with such a situation is to communicate your feelings with your partner. If your partner is reasonable, they might understand what they are doing wrong and try to correct it. If your partner is someone inconsiderate, they might change for a day or two, and go back to their old ways afterwards. This does not however give you a reason to snoop into their phone while they are not looking.

Below, we’ve compiled five reasons why you should not check your partners phone in their absence as provided by Urbanasian.

It violates your partner’s trust in you

If your partner leaves their phone out in the open, then it shows that they trust you and they don’t think that you will snoop on their phone. Leaving the phone in open is a gesture that shows their respect and faith in you. So, at the very least, you should offer them the same in return. Somehow by secretly searching through your partner’s phone, you’re breaking the trust and respect.

Shows your insecurities

Have you ever questioned yourself as to why you feel like snooping into your partner’s phone? Isn’t it very simple that you don’t trust your partner? Violating the trust, you seemingly had with your partner, sets your relationship back. It is proof that you’re not heading in the right direction with them, as your insecurities speak volumes about where you really are with your partner!

Negative scenarios

There will be unintended consequences if you do decide to look through your partner’s’ phone. If your partner catches you, it can potentially end your relationship. Nobody would like if someone secretly went through their stuff when they’re not around. It is bad manners.

You may not like what you see

What if you end up seeing something that you weren’t meant to see. Everyone has their certain personal things that your partner does not need to be sharing, and you might happen to stumble upon one of these things. As the saying goes “Some stones are better left unturned,” and this cannot be better explained in looking through someone’s phone. You may not like what you see.

You would hate it if they would do the same to you

Some people obviously wouldn’t care as much as others about this, especially those who have nothing to hide, but even so, nobody would enjoy somebody else secretly invading their privacy. So, treat others as you would like to be treated. If you don’t want someone doing something to you, you should probably not do it to them either. Instead of looking into their phone when they are not around, try being more upfront and honest with them about things.
