Cape Town, also known as the Mother City, is a popular city situated on the southwest coast of South Africa, and is home to many. It is the type of home that needs exploring!

The city has lots to offer, including many beaches, Table Mountain, the best sea food and over 2000 plant species, to name a few.

So, when you find yourself in the Mother City, be sure to visit these places.

V&A Waterfront

If you are in the mood to shop until you drop, watch live entertainment, or even find a bite to eat, the V&A Waterfront is the place to go. You will be surrounded by many locals and international travellers, all wanting to explore what the V&A has to offer.

Bo-Kaap

Going to Bo-Kaap needs to be on your list! The place oozes culture and history. Here, you will marvel at the colourful houses found up and down every street and smell the aromas of samoosas, koesisters (not to be confused with “koeksisters”) and Cape Malay curries drifting through the air.

Long Street

If you are a self-proclaimed party animal, make your way down to Long Street. Although Long is popular, make sure you also visit clubs and restaurants in the following streets: Bree, Loop and Kloof.

Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden

Also known as Kirstenbosch Gardens, this place is known to be one of the greatest botanical gardens in the world. “Few gardens can match the sheer grandeur of the setting of Kirstenbosch, against the eastern slopes of Cape Town’s Table Mountain,” says their website. While you are there, you can also grab a bite to eat at one of their restaurants.

Kalk Bay

This fishing village is situated on the coast of False Bay. When you are here, make a stop at Kalky’s, a little fish shop with a huge fan base.
