A Night At The Premier Hotel Midrand

by Amanda Ndlangisa

A good friend of mine recently celebrated her birthday and was in need of a quick getaway. What better way to fulfil her birthday wishes than to treat her to a night away at The Premier Hotel Midrand? There was a reason behind my generosity though; I’ve heard how gorgeous and sophisticated the place is and I needed to get away from my own space. So, we drove to Midrand and enjoyed a few things at the hotel.

ON ARRIVAL

on-arrivalI had my reservations about the location of the hotel because I don’t really know Midrand well. I just know that there are a lot of residential areas there so I didn’t think a hotel would sit best in an area like that but I got the shock of my life when I arrived. You immediately feel like you’re outside Gauteng even know you’re at the thick of it. That’s what I look for in hotels so I was already impressed. As if that wasn’t enough, the concierge called me by name before I could even greet him. He later explained that they research every visitor that comes through. What a nice personal touch.

ROOMS

From my arrival, to checking in, what I noticed about The Premier Hotel is that they pride themselves in adding personal touches. When I arrived in the room, they had a few copies of BONA magazine and to top that, they had framed a beautiful picture of my daughter that they had found on one of my social media profiles. My heart just melted, I hadn’t even framed that picture so I was happy someone else did it for me. The rooms are big enough for two people and the bathrooms are exquisite. Soft sheets and a comfy bed allowed peaceful sleep, while the free unlimited Wi-Fi and a flat-screen TV kept my friend and I connected.

FOOD

31027322Basically I am a carnivore, I always know that my meal will have meat before I even sit down at a restaurant. I ordered some lamb with vegetables (best decision ever) while my friend had their fish with a few vegetables also. For dessert I had fruits, and my friend had ice cream with a chocolate cake. We both almost couldn’t walk by the time dinner was over, that’s how full we were. We also had the most divine wine. Though the hotel itself has a very muscular and business feel, I loved the restaurant, there was something romantic about it.

THINGS TO DO

Midrand-PoolAs mentioned earlier, the feel of the hotel gave me business and muscular vibes. So it strikes me as a place business people would enjoy more than people who are interested in leisure. But since the hotel is located at the heart of Gauteng, my guess is that there are a lot of other things to do for leisure seekers, like visiting the Midrand Urban Market and we hear The Mall of Africa will open next March, so yes to shopping ladies.

HIGHLIGHT

They framed my daughter’s picture… need I say more?

WHY THE PREMIER HOTEL MIDRAND?

22804515

Location: The Premier Hotel Midrand is ideally located halfway between Johannesburg and Pretoria, the two major cities in the Gauteng province.

Service: From the concierge to the cleaner to the waiters, the service from the staff is out of this world. Other than my daughter’s picture being framed, the service was also a highlight for me.
