Caffeine is generally the first approach when it comes to boosting your energy levels. However, it does not always work for everyone and is not the healthiest option.

For many people looking to improve their vitality and fight against exhaustion, experts advise taking vitamins and supplements might be a helpful way to increase energy levels organically.

Here are key vitamins and supplements that are known for the ability to boost your energy:

Vitamin B12

According to the health publication Healthline, vitamin B12 assists in converting the food you eat into energy that is usable by your cells. It also helps prevent a type of anemia that can leave you feeling weak and exhausted. It maintains the health of your body’s blood cells and nerves and is found in meat, fish and dairy products to name a few.

Iron

The above-mentioned health hub also states that hemoglobin, a protein found in red blood cells that carries oxygen from your lungs to all of your body’s organs and tissues and is made by the body from iron.

Your red blood cells cannot efficiently transport oxygen to the body’s tissues if you don’t have enough iron in your body. An iron supplement may be needed to correct the deficiency, the publication suggests.

Vitamin B6

Dr. Josh Axe, a chiropractor, doctor of natural medicine, clinical nutritionist and author states that the metabolism of proteins and carbs depends on vitamin B6 as it promotes the synthesis of neurotransmitters that control your mood and energy levels and aids in the conversion of stored nutrients into usable energy. It is found in foods such as sunflower seeds, pinto beans, and chicken breast.

Vitamin C

The clinical nutritionist also states that the antioxidant vitamin C aids in the synthesis of energy by making it easier for the body to absorb iron, which is required for the movement of oxygen throughout the body.

Green leafy vegetables, bell peppers, kiwi, strawberries, and citrus fruits are some of the best vitamin C-rich diets for sustained energy, the above nutritionist adds.

Ashwagandha

The doctor also states that this adaptogen assists the body in managing stress and may increase energy levels by decreasing fatigue. You can consume ashwagandha tea or use ashwagandha supplements.

Rhodiola Rosea

The above-mentioned chiropractor suggests another adaptogen, rhodiola rosea which is well-known for its capacity to lessen fatigue and enhance both physical and mental performance. This supplement is available as tablets or capsules and can be found as a tincture as well.
