The surprising benefits of a good massage

A good massage can be a true game-changer. It is an opportunity to reset and recharge, not only to unwind. The stress of a hectic day can be relieved by a professional therapist’s gentle touch, leaving you feeling lighter and more in control.

An easy yet effective method to relax and feel your best is with a massage, whether you’re looking for comfort, stress reduction, or just a break. The below experts explore the surprising benefits of a good massage.

According to a massage therapist, Victoria Bodner, “If you’re stressed and sore, you may think there’s nothing you can do but take some over-the-counter pain relievers and plough through your day, you don’t have to grin and bear it. Massage is a great tool for relaxation, pain relief, easing muscle tension and more.”

The Cleveland Clinic states that a massage treatment is performed by a professional massage therapist and entails manipulating the body’s muscles and other soft tissues using various pressures, movements, and techniques. In order to relieve stress and tension, relieve symptoms, mend injuries, and promote well-being, massage therapy slows down your nervous system.

The two neural systems in your body are the parasympathetic nervous system, which regulates daily and normal processes that result in relaxation, and the sympathetic nervous system, which triggers your “fight or flight” reaction in stressful circumstances. It is believed that receiving a massage might enhance your parasympathetic response, hence reducing anxiety, according to the clinic.

News Medical claims, “Therapeutic massage increases muscle blood flow and warmth, boosts performance, reduces cell adhesion, increases muscular flexibility, and reduces injury risk.”

The American Massage Therapy Association further adds that all forms of pain, whether they are caused by chronic conditions, migraines, or torn muscles, have one thing in common: the person feeling the pain wants to get better. For those who suffer from discomfort, including carpal tunnel syndrome, massage treatment can be quite helpful.
