Do you want to get more out of your workouts? Perhaps the key ingredient you need is beetroot powder.

This colourful superfood, which is full of natural performance enhancers and vital nutrients, can help you increase your stamina and endurance, giving you an advantage when working out.

The health publications below explain how this powerhouse can improve your training and assist you in achieving your fitness objectives.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, “A powder made from grinding dried beets may be the secret to better performance in activities such as distance running, and cycling.”

It is also mentioned by the clinic that by improving blood flow and oxygen delivery in the body, beetroot powder or juice has been shown to improve endurance and athletic performance. In essence, it involves using a root vegetable to dope blood.

The clinic also states that beets have a characteristic dark red colour and are knobby root vegetables. Due to its ease of cultivation and long history, it may be the reason it appears in so many recipes and cultural cuisines.

“Drinking beet juice raises nitric oxide levels in your body. Research shows nitric oxide can increase blood flow, improve lung function, and strengthen muscle contraction. This combination has stimulated athletes to supplement with beet juice for improved cardiorespiratory endurance and performance,” according to Verywellfit.

It also boosts oxygen capacity. Your ability to take in oxygen will increase your energy levels and speed up your recovery from exercise, both of which will lead to better aerobic performance, the above fitness publication also states claims.
