Many of us may not be aware that the foods we consume could be contributing to back pain which could develop later on in the future.

Back pain is the most typical ailment or symptom for which people seek medical attention. There are numerous ways to treat this issue because it is so prevalent. Back pain has always been mostly managed by exercise. Due to muscle strengthening, it not only treats backaches but also stops them from developing.

However, there is no denying the importance of food in preventing back pain. Several research studies have been conducted on food with correlation to back pain which has proven that food plays a vital role.

According to HealthifyMe, here are foods that reduce back pain.

Fatty Fish

Salmon, trout, tuna, and sardines are among the fatty fish that are excellent providers of omega-3 fatty acids. According to HealthifyMe, unsaturated fats lessen body stiffness and joint pain in addition to maintaining healthy body metrics thanks to their anti-inflammatory characteristics. Additionally, fish is a great source of vitamin D, a nutrient whose lack can exacerbate back and knee pain and potentially lead to arthritis.

Those who do not enjoy eating fish frequently can still obtain the health benefits of omega-3 fatty acids by taking fish oil supplements.

Vegetables

Everyone’s diet plan should include leafy greens and cruciferous vegetables, including spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage. These veggies contain antioxidant vitamins A, C, and K, which are believed to reduce inflammation, notes the health publication mentioned above.  A natural substance called sulforaphane, which inhibits an enzyme that causes joint discomfort and inflammation, is another advantage they provide.

Fibrous green leafy vegetables are vital for preserving the general health of your body.

Beta carotene, a potent antioxidant, is abundant in root vegetables like carrots, beets, and pumpkins. They can do wonders for knee and back pain relief when you include them. Regularly eat salads with carrots as a component.

Fruits

Healthshots states that fruits such as apples, pineapple, berries, cherries, grapes, and citrus fruits (lemons and oranges) are examples of foods that include flavonoids and antioxidants that reduce inflammation brought on by knee and back discomfort. If you want to get the most benefits from the fruit, don’t peel it, notes the health publication.

Whole grains

Avoid processed grains as they lack key nutrients and fibre such as white rice and white flour. Choose whole grains like wheat, brown rice, millet, quinoa, barley, and oats as an alternative. These whole grains are incredibly abundant in fibre and other nutrients. After being digested, the fibre creates short-chain fatty acids, which significantly reduce inflammation, according to research.

Regular consumption of these whole grains high in fibre will lessen back pain plus knee discomfort.
