Explore the five common signs of male infertility

Could there be anything as precious as living to see the day that mini versions of yourself wandering through the world as they grow up to chase their dreams and aspirations?

For most men, this is considered to be one of the biggest blessings the biggest blessings. Not only because they are your children, but the mere fact that your body has been able to plant a seed that will ensure the longevity of your bloodline is truly something to stand in awe of.

Sadly, not many get to experience the gift of fatherhood, the reasons for this are due to infertility.

“Infertility is a common problem for many people assigned male at birth (AMAB),” explains the medical information hub, Cleveland Clinic.

In simple terms, the above-mentioned source states that infertility is what happens when you have repeated unprotected sexual intercourse with your partner for over a year, but she does not get pregnant. While most men feel that this is an embarrassing diagnosis that only affects them, it is further reported that infertility affects at least 186 million people worldwide, from which males make up half the amount of cases.

According to Mayo Clinic, this has serious effects on males such as stress and relationship difficulties due to the inability to conceive.

However a contributor to infertility is one’s lifestyle, Mayo Clinic highlights that some factors that lead to infertility include:

  • Age
  • Tobacco use
  • Marijuana use
  • Alcohol
  • Being overweight
  • Lack of exercise

According to Lomalinda fertility, nearly half of the cases of all male infertility can be treated or reversed. However, it is best to start spotting the signs early.

Health and wellness publication, Healthline, states that these are the common signs of infertility in men:

  • Changes in sexual desire
  • Testicular pain or swelling
  • Problems maintaining an erection
  • Issues with ejaculations
  • Small firm testicles

If any of these are experienced, it is recommended to seek advice from a medical professional.
