Breathe in, breathe out. The essence of life lies in being able to follow these two instructions. What a privilege it is to be able to do so, one would say. So, are we taking care of our lungs as we should?

You cannot breathe comfortably in your daily life if your lungs are not in good health, even the little adjustments made can have a significant impact.

These easy suggestions can assist your lung health over time, from trusted health experts:

According to the health-focused publication Healthline, “Most people want to get healthier. Rarely, though, do they think about protecting and maintaining the health of their lungs.”

The health hub further adds that idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, asthma, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are among the lung conditions that are associated with smoking. Moreover, it worsens such conditions. Smokers, for example, have a 12–13 times higher risk of dying from COPD than people who do not smoke.

It is also mentioned by Medical News Today that in addition to increasing the risk of lung illness and lung cancer, outdoor air pollution can make breathing difficult. To lessen its effects, one can attempt the following actions:

  • When the air quality is poor, stay indoors and check the index of quality of air.
  •  Install a filter system on your air conditioner, to remove pollutants in the air inside your home.

The above-mentioned health news publication further claims, “Regular exercise is critical for the health of the lungs, heart, and entire body. Health experts recommend that everyone try some form of regular exercise, regardless of age or physical fitness.”
