There’s usually an epidemic of stress and burnout as the year comes to a close. Unfortunately, you cannot bust your way out of it sometimes. The core healing is to consider the stresses and strains which may be causing your mind and body to feel so fatigued. If you feel this way, there are restorative herbs right in your garden.
Here are four plants that may help ease fatigue and burnout.
Lemon balms
A very common garden plant that calms the nerves and lifts your spirits. Lemon balm is good for soothing jitteriness, exhaustion and burnout. It is easy to grow in the garden or even in a pot on your windowsill. Just put a freshly picked lemon balm in a cup of boiling water, cover with a lid until you are ready to drink. Avoid the herb if you have an underactive thyroid.

Sage
The sage herb is not called ‘sage’ for nothing. It is one of the herbs associated with cognition. Great for beating brain fog. Two leaves in a cup of water will do. Sage herbs are also traditionally used to help with hot flushes as they contain antiviral and antibacterial properties. When you get the first symptom of burnout or flu, make yourself a tea of sage and see the results.
Ashwagandha
Ashwagandha herbs are an ancient herb that has been used to boost energy levels, improve vitality, and increase stamina. The herb is an adaptogen, helping the body resist stress and return to a state of balance. These herbs are also known to reduce stress levels, helping regulate the nervous system and improve sleep quality. These properties, along with its ability to improve energy levels and focus, make the Ashwagandha herb a promising natural remedy for people suffering from burnout and exhaustion.
Rosemary
These herbs are believed to improve circulation to the brain, resulting in enhanced cognition, alertness and mood. Taking rosemary can be as simple as taking a herbal tea or sniffing the essential oils. You can either use rosemary oils in your bath or simply drink them. If you feel wired and tired, a rosemary bath can help calm and refresh your mind.
