Can Ashwagandha supplements help you stress less? Here’s what to know

Stress impacts almost every area of our lives, including immunity, digestion, sleep, focus, and even long-term mental and physical health.

Managing stress is more important than ever in today’s world because of the pressures of work, digital overload, and emotional strain.

To enhance relaxation, lessen anxiety, and improve general well-being without harsh side effects or prescription drugs, people are increasingly using natural supplements.

According to medical expert Yufang Lin, ashwagandha is a beneficial option for those who prefer herbal remedies for several reasons. “Ayurvedic medicine has traditionally used ashwagandha to boost energy, enhance overall health, and alleviate inflammation, pain, and anxiety.”

Ayurvedic medicine is India’s traditional medical system, she continues. It’s a healing tradition that encourages harmony between the body, mind, spirit, and environment through the use of herbs, exercise, mindfulness techniques, and good nutrition, she further adds.

Gummies, capsules, liquid drops, and powders are some of the forms of ashwagandha that should be taken twice daily. Dr. Lin suggests taking 500 mg twice a day, emphasising high-quality supplements that have been examined and approved by medical organisations.

The health-focused publication Healthline claims that it has been discovered that the adaptogen ashwagandha lessens the symptoms of anxiety and stress. Research indicates that it can lower the activity of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis and regulate stress mediators like cortisol and JNK-1.

The health hub mentioned above also explains that strength and oxygen during exercise are two more aspects of athletic performance that ashwagandha may enhance.

In some instances, it may also lessen the symptoms of mental health issues like depression; however, further study is required, Healthline notes.
