When it comes to completing the ultimate look of sophistication, there is only one thing that can top off a tidy attire – and that is sealing it with a nice full beard.

For many guys having a healthy and full-looking beard is the ultimate dream. According to the men’s grooming publication Beard Club, research proves that having a beard is considered a sign of maturity and attraction.

In a study done by the above-mentioned source, both sexes have revealed that there is a high number of people who see men with beards as being more masculine than those who do not. This is beneficial in the dating pool as it can increase their attraction exponentially.

In the study done on 8520 women, the outcome was as follows:

“Women rated clean-shaven men as the least attractive. Light and heavy stubble would likely result in a short-term fling. Women looking for a long-term partner are more interested in a man with a bigger beard,” revealed the Beard Club.

While some men are just genetically unable to grow a beard at all, others are capable but just do not know how to maintain it to grow, strong, and appear to be in a healthy condition.

The health publication Healthline, explains that while the process of growing a good beard is external, a lot of it has to do with one’s lifestyle.

According to the above-mentioned source, the following tips are essential to achieving one’s dream look:

Exercise

This is known to increase blood flow and stimulate the hair follicle to grow. It is said that things like weightlifting boost testosterone which creates an added advantage.

Diet

Healthline explains that it is important to be conscious of the foods put into one’s body and to try and avoid obesity as this is known to decrease one’s testosterone.

Instead consume foods that contain vitamins A, B, C, D and E which are known to promote hair growth. Other essential nutrients are things like zinc, healthy carbohydrates as well as lean proteins like salmon or chicken as they help your hair grow healthier.

In addition to this, Medical News Today explains that it is important to have a good skincare routine that involves exfoliating. This helps loosen and avoid ingrown hairs providing your beard with a fuller appearance.

Health information hub WebMD meanwhile recommends the following tips on how to maintain your beard:

  • Commit to the Process.
  • Choose the Right Beard Care Tools.
  • Wash Your Beard.
  • Pick the Right Beard Cleanser.
  • Treat Beard Dandruff.
  • Moisturize Your Beard.
  • Groom Your Beard.
