Tea is not a beverage that is only consumed during cold days to keep us warm. It is loved and enjoyed by many all over the world for health, social benefits and many other reasons. This warm goodness that has been around for many centuries can be enjoyed freely anytime of the day with no worries of calories as most teas have not been proven to have calorie properties.

Originally traced from China around the year 2737 B.C., tea drinking later moved to Japan and Holland before reaching Europe.

For this article, we take a closer look at five types of tea and how they benefit our body, mind and health.

  • Chamomile tea – This tea with calming effects contains antioxidants that may help prevent complications. Some of those are diabetes, loss of vision, nerve and kidney damage, and stunting the growth of cancer cells, adds health information services hub WebMD.
  • Rooibos – Also known as red tea, rooibos is a South African-grown tea that is known for its many benefits. The above-mentioned hub adds that even though medical studies have been limited, red tea is said to contain “flavonoids cancer-fighting properties.”
  • Echinacea tea – Is popular for its healing properties such as preventing and reversing common cold symptoms. “It lessens the severity of the symptoms associated with the common cold and improves the body’s immune system,” shares Verywell Fit, an information source that provides health and wellness information by professionals.
  • Hibiscus – According to WebMD, drinking three cups of this tea on a daily basis showed signs of lowered blood pressure in people with modestly elevated levels.
  • Green tea – Is one of the most popular teas found on the market. Many people use it for benefits which include cleansing, boosting wellness and its antioxidant properties. Studies have proven that green tea extracts have some potential health benefits that can be supported scientifically.
