Ways to help you grow your hair thicker

Some people are lucky to have been born with naturally thick and voluminous hair but, for many it might take some time and a few remedies before achieving thick and voluminous hair. 

While there may be shampoos available to help your hair give the thickness allusion, it is only temporary. 

There are methods that are available to help your hair grow thicker, and these methods are easily accessible and some you might already have in your kitchen. 

Here are some methods and products you can use to help you on your journey of growing your hair thicker: 

Eggs

Eggs are popularly known for their richness in protein. 

According to Medical News Today, protein is essential for thick and strong hair. 

You can use the egg as a mask for your hair by applying the egg on your damp hair and leaving it on for about 30 minutes then washing it off thoroughly with warm water with shampoo.

Olive Oil

According to the Cleveland Clinic, Olive oil is rich in omega-3 acids and other nutrients that are essential for overall health which also includes hair health. 

Medical News Today states that when olive oil is applied directly, it will help promote thicker hair. They state that it may also soften the hair and moisturize any dry areas of the scalp.

The best way to use this product for thicker hair is massaging it onto your scalp for about 30-40 minutes.

Proper nutrition

According to a study done by the National Library of Medicine on Nutrition of women with hair loss problem during the period of menopause, a nutritious diet that contains adequate healthy fats, protein, and a range of vitamins can help thicken

Medical News Today states that thinning hair or thin hair can be a sign that you are not getting enough nutrients. 

Medical News Today suggests you add the following foods to your diet to ensure you have enough nutrients in order for your hair to grow thicker: 

    • salmon, which is rich in protein and fatty acids
    • eggs, which contain protein, omega-3s, and iron
    • walnuts, almonds, and other nuts, which are sources of fatty acids
    • Greek yogurt, which is a source of protein
    • green, black, pinto, or other beans, which contain protein

Avocado

According to Nourish by Web MD, avocados are rich in Vitamin E. This type of vitamin is also known to be a good moisturiser. 

There are avocado oils that are available or one can simply make an avocado rub. 

According to Medical News Today, the instructions of making the perfect avocado rub include: 

      •  1 avocado with 1 tbsp olive oil
      • Apply the mixture to the hair and scalp
      • Let it sit for about 30 minutes
      • Wash thoroughly with mild shampoo

Protective hairstyles are a great way to tuck away your ends to protect and minimise hair damage.  

A few examples of protective hairstyles include: 

      • Conrows 
      • Bantu Knots
      • Braids 
      • Wigs
