Eat these foods to improve your memory

Given that the brain consumes about 20% of the body’s calories, it requires a lot of healthy nourishment to keep its focus throughout the day.

Certain nutrients are also necessary for the health of the brain. For instance, antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids lower cellular stress and inflammation, which are connected to brain aging and neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s disease. These nutrients also aid in the development and repair of brain cells.

Here are some foods which you could eat to help improve your memory:

Walnuts

Consuming nuts is a great source of protein and good fats, and one variety, in particular, may help with memory. Increased consumption of walnuts was associated in a 2015 UCLA study with higher cognition test scores. Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), a kind of omega-3 fatty acid, is abundant in walnuts. Omega-3 fatty acid-rich diets have been associated with lowered blood pressure and cleaner arteries. That benefits the heart and the brain.

Fatty acids

Omega-3 fatty acids, a crucial component of the brain’s structure, are abundant in fatty fish. Omega-3 fatty acids aid in memory improvement, mood enhancement, and cognitive decline protection.

Coffee and tea

Your daily cup of coffee or tea may provide benefits beyond just a temporary improvement in focus. According to a 2014 study that was published in The Journal of Nutrition, people performed better on assessments of mental function when they have consumed their tea or coffee. According to previous research, caffeine may also aid in the consolidation of fresh memories. 

Coffee also helps boost alertness and mood. It may also offer some protection against Alzheimer’s, thanks to its content of caffeine and antioxidants, says Healthline.

Berries 

According to study, flavonoids, the natural plant pigments that give berries their vivid colours, also aid in memory improvement. 

Healthline says that blueberries are packed with antioxidants that may delay brain ageing and improve memory.

Leafy greens

Leafy greens like kale, spinach, collards, and broccoli are full of minerals like vitamin K, lutein, folate, and beta carotene that are good for the brain. These plant-based diets may reduce cognitive decline, according to research.
