Your guide to rocking a jersey dress this winter

What’s the deal with the jersey dress?

A jersey or sweater dress, as the name suggests, is a knitted dress, reminiscent of a long jersey, which usually sits just above the knee. The good news is that they’re available in an array of styles, cuts and colours which will definitely leave you spoilt for choice.

Closer fitted, bodycon styles are the most popular, but off-the-shoulder styles and slouchy fits have also gained in popularity.

Keep things simple

Because jersey dresses have simple clean lines, they work fabulously when worn over tights and a thin camisole. You can then pull on a gorgeous pair of boots and you’re ready to go. Tall boots give the look a sexier, edgier appearance, while flat mid-length options tone it down.

Add the perfect top layer

You can transform your look perfectly by adding the right top layer. For a more relaxed feel, slip on a cardigan, denim or bomber jacket. For a chic look, consider a blazer or biker jacket. However, go for a perfectly tailored coat if you want a more elegant take on things.

Accessorise the look

You can definitely the jersey dress to new heights by playing up your accessories. A statement necklace works well for more formal engagements, while a patterned scarf can lend a playful touch to the look.

Wear it as a jersey

You can also opt to wear your dress as top by pairing it with a pair of leggings or skinny jeans. You can then add a pair of comfortable cowboy boots and a scarf to complete the look.
