Women for Change takes legal action against Tattooed Papi for defamation

Women for Change is a non-profit organisation (NPO) known for advocating for the constitutional rights of women and children in South Africa. The organisation has reportedly taken legal action against the popular TikToker Tattooed Papi, who made several accusations against them.

Women for Change is one of the few organisations that have been extremely vocal about their opposition to Chris Brown, a known perpetrator of abuse against women, being given a platform in this country, especially when considering the gender-based violence (GBV) statistics.

Their advocacy has been met with plenty of resistance, as some South Africans believe that the backlash Chris Brown is receiving from ‘feminists’ is unjustified. Taking to his TikTok, Tattooed Papi called the NPO out for a few things, including accusing Women for Change of misusing donations.

In response, Women for Change took to their Instagram to share that after some of their team members have experienced an excessive amount of bullying and harassment online, they will be pursuing legal action against those individuals and organisations. Furthermore, they will pursue legal action against those spreading false information about the organisation, such as Tattooed Papi.

“Women For Change is pursuing legal action against those spreading false claims and violently threatening our team. We refuse to be silenced. Our legal team is actively addressing the situation, and we will continue our crucial work for women and children,” the caption reads.
